Smart Accelerates 5G Rollout

Smart Communications, Inc., the wireless arm of PLDT Inc., is significantly ramping up its 5G rollout nationwide to deliver superior connectivity to Filipinos.

As part of its broader network strategy, Smart is gradually reallocating resources from its 3G network to enhance 5G capacity precisely where it's needed most.

"By focusing our efforts on strengthening our 5G footprint, we're empowering more Filipinos with faster and more reliable mobile connectivity," said PLDT and Smart Chief Technology Officer Menardo 'Butch' G. Jimenez Jr.  "We are committed to creating a world-class digital experience that meets our customers' demands today and anticipates their needs of tomorrow."

"Our continued investments in 5G align perfectly with the government's push to boost the country’s digital competitiveness and drive inclusive nation-building," added Smart Chief Operating Officer Anastacio 'Boy' R. Martirez. "By providing access to cutting-edge technologies, we enable more Filipinos to fully participate in the digital economy and unlock new possibilities.

Building on its advancements, Smart introduced '5G Max' in Taguig City last December, offering an enhanced 5G network experience marked by faster speeds, lower latency, and a more seamless mobile experience. The company is now preparing to bring the benefits of 5G Max to Visayas and other key areas across the country.

Empowering Filipinos to switch to 5G

To ensure more subscribers can fully benefit from these crucial network improvements, Smart, along with its value brand TNT, is actively encouraging customers to upgrade both their devices and SIM cards.

Subscribers can easily check if their SIM is 5G-ready by texting SIMCHECK to 5832 for FREE. Customers still using outdated SIMs can get a FREE SIM upgrade by calling the Smart hotline at *888 or by visiting their nearest Smart Store for assistance.

Additionally, Smart is making the transition to 5G-capable devices even more accessible. Customers can take advantage of easy installment options for prepaid device bundles or postpaid plans, available at Smart Stores nationwide or via the Smart Online Store.

Smart’s sustained efforts in modernizing its network underscore its deep commitment to delivering amazing services and innovations that genuinely enrich the lives of its subscribers.
