We were surprised that compared to X9c Smart, X8c has MagicOS 9 based on Android 15 out of the box. We only experienced the custom OS on higher HONOR phones and the improvements are there including the renewed pulldown menu and AI eraser. AMOLED display and being light at 174 grams were another plus on it. Two downers for us was Snapdragon 685 processor and not having 5G connectivity. Huge surprise for us was putting in 512 GB storage and their Marrs Green variant was the best among the three. The said SoC can pull it out as long as you will not do those heavy stuff like video editing and lots of opened apps at once
Connectivity even for the lack of 5G - calls, texts, LTE mobile data, Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi were a-ok on this device
Battery even at 5,000 mAh battery was quite power efficient as it can do it for us for around 1.25 days in medium usage. Charging it from zero to 100 percent can go for less than 90 minutes from it's 35 watt wired charger
In addition, sound that is coming thru Bluetooth and speaker were more than average.
On camera, photos on different lighting conditions can hit for around 70% of the time as there were some missed on it (without using the AI function). AI eraser works like a charm like what we experienced on HONOR 200 as long as you have strong LTE mobile data. On video recording, the awful experience that we got on HONOR X7abreturned on HONOR X8c as it has poor audio on video recording unless that you will do video interviews using a third-party USB-C wireless mic.
On the pros, it will be the design, IP64 certification, display, weight, OS, sound and power efficiency
We were somewhere in between in cameras as long as it is serviceable on shooting photos only.
On the cons, it will be their choice of processor, no 5G mobile data connection for it's asking price, poor audio in video recording and asking price of Php 13,999 that for getting 50% less on storage and 5G-ready device, HONOR X9c Smart is the better value as long as you are ok on LCD display.
