One of Huawei PH's latest smartphones with pop-up selfie camera, here's our verdict on Huawei Y9s

Huawei Y9s has EMUI 9.1 with the same Kirin 710F processor that we seen on Y Prime which is a-ok. Putting in 6 GB RAM also helped in with the ease of multi tasking. Connectivity was never as an issue in this device in calls, texts, mobile data, WiFi and GPS except that we are missing to have an additional sim to work if you put in a micro SD there
On battery with it's 6.5 inch FHD+ display, the phone survived in 16 hours and 45 minutes in our video battery rundown test. Using it in a normal setting (without smart display and battery saving.) we can have this device in heavy usage in around 1.25 days. Charging the device can go from 0 to 100% in less than 2.5 hours. No quick charging support on this device.

Huawei Y9s has the same camera options that you may seen in a number of Huawei flagships (minus the huge number of zoom) with pro, HDR, light painting and so much more. Like in their previous handsets, you cannot do zoom once you enable the 48 MP primary camera which we brought in our camera samples. Ultra wide shots were very good especially on daytime. We are impressed at the auto mode of the primary camera with the right colors and accuracy of the scene. Selfies are also a-ok

Extras: Excellent sound on a high midrange Huawei smartphone via 3.5 mm audio jack is a rare commodity and good to know that Y9s has done a wonderful job on this device. Right on cue on almost all of the music genres that we explored with the right balance of lows, mids and highs.
Huawei Y9s is probably that most beautiful Y smartphone that we tried since Y9 2019 with no-notch display, more RAM, very good optics, FHD+ display and good battery life. One challenge though will be the Kirin 710F which has almost no difference to standard Kirin 710 and for 1,000 pesos more, Huawei Nova 7i is waving at you with almost 50% more in performance numbers and has 40 watt charging support. I think it's better to price this device for around Php 11,990. For us, Huawei Y9s will be at 4 out of 5
