Vivo V5 Philippines Launch, First Look, Camera Samples, Benchmarks

After 8 days since it's' first global launch, Vivo V5 is finally here in the Philippines.

I won't elaborate that much on the specs as it was the same specs that you already saw in previous article on it's India launch last November 15. Like what in the leaks of pre-orders in some retailers, it is true it will be for Php 12,990 which is kinda rare base on trends that usually India has more affordable price than for the Philippine market. It is currently on pre-order status as this will be available this November 26. For more convenience, they tapped Flexi Finance which you can have it for Php 2,598 per month for 4 months (for sure there will be a downpayment for this plus you will be getting a free tumble, selfie stick and OTG cable) and Home Credit which when I asked this thing in their presscon with Vivo Philippines Vice President Ms. Hazel Bascon, it will be revealed soon.

What is so special compared to the Nov. 15 global launch was more details of the upcoming Vivo V5 Plus which you already saw from my Nov. 15 article. From their presentation, they promised it will have a 5.5 inch Full HD display in a 5.2 inch body, dual front camera consists of the same sensor and 20 MP front camera of V5 plus 8 MP accompaying camera which can create blur effect and can adjust aperture even after you already took the shot. No hint so far on the pricing and availability. In addition, they tapped Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry as the newest Vivo endorser for the Philippines.

And I will go on for the hands-on part

The front and back portions of Vivo V5 which they will sell for now in rose gold color. The appearance is almost the same in terms of form factor of Vivo Y55 but level up. I noticed something good without some tweaks in the developers option that you can easily see the 4 GB RAM in action. The display is good for me in a 5.5 inch HD display

The smart multi display now supports more apps compared to Y55 with MX Player although I was not fully utilized it with either messaging or Facebook app (if I can only insert a SIM card on it). From the freebies that were mentioned, it is a clear giveaway that it has OTG support.

Good to know that it has 7 out of 9 sensors that worked properly including the gyro sensor. The internal storage was supplied by Samsung.

Of course, the cameras will be the easiest to check in our limited time to play this device at the venue. I am curious on the aspect ratio that the 20 MP front camera will bring and I got the answers as you will see in the pics and descriptions below. Shooting in 16:9 aspect ratio will drop to 15 MP which is not bad. The imaging processing speed were also a-ok. The pro mode has a shutter speed support up to 16 seconds.

The selfie camera shootout in PH tech scene became more interesting with this Vivo V5. What's more if the V5 Plus will come out soon. Of course, my review table is open for our possible review unit.
