A few days ago, I am delighted to be in the first Secrets of the South Food Crawl (big thanks to Ms. Kathy Kenny Ngo of lifeiskulayful.com and psst.ph) to highlight the best yet undiscovered restos in the South Metro.
For the first stop, we went to Mati's Meat and Bread located at the Festival Mall River Park. The place was perfect for family and barkada gatherings with their number of comfort foods to share.
Vince's Chicken and Arugula Salad was my first bite in their wide array of offerings. In media gatherings, I mostly skip leafy-based salad but not on this one. That literal na napakain ako ng gulay thing. The right amount of ingredients and balsamic vinegar really set up my tone for that lunch time affair
Then the Balut Aligue which is their starter in our visit there. I never imagined that these two can have a good combo in one bowl and in fact, the only one in the country so far. Just watch out for the cholesterol kick but it is worth it.
The truffle pasta was another dish that has a wow factor on me mainly as this cream-based pasta does not have that sawa factor that I usually encounter in carbonara. It goes in hand with lightly toasted bread which can be already a meal for me.
Tali s Gamberetti was one of their best selling pizzas in their place. I love the combination of anchovies, cheese and some herbs into one homey pizza
Mati's Double Burger was another hit for me as the burger itself has all itself that can be a perfect for me. The right taste and composition of 2 burger patties, veggies, the bun and the nice fries on the side. That pic might be my convincing power for you to drop by at the place soon.
And more meat for a big guy like me as they brought in their 400 gram Australian steak for four of us and they even gave us a chance and how the way they cooked it in a pan grill. When I asked one of their staff on the mix that they did on it, it was only salt, pepper and the quality of beef that they are bringing on everytime. We all chose to cook it on medium well state and we got the perfect, filling steak that we had. It goes well with their mash potato or corn, green peas and carrot sidings.
The overall service and ambience was also heartwarming plus the place is quite convenient as it is only inside the Festival Mall vicinity and there are a number of terminals in case that you are coming from different areas. My personal picks at the resto are the Chicken and Arugula Salad and the steak
