Ekotek Ekophone Rogue 3 Review

It's time to drop my comments and views on the country's first Intel SoFIA powered smartphone by Ekotek. Here's my Ekophone Rogue 3 review.

On the UI, it is almost stock Android Kitkat expect that it changed some icons. There are some instances that I will experience some minor lags which might be a clue to the SoC's weakness.

On calls, texts and mobile internet, I learned that this device only has SIM 1 for 3G connection. In my days that I used this device, I'm only on single SIM on Globe as I found out that t only has single band 3G. Calls and texts are not a problem for me as well for WiFi connection

On storage, it's a sad thing for me that out of 4 GB ROM, Ekotek only managed to have less than a GB for app storage. Definitely not a phone of choice for those who only have budget for entry level phone but has huge demand on apps and games. Some of the apps can be installed via micro SD.

On gaming, I had Modern Combat 5 and Philippine Slam which worked fine.

On benchmarks, it has 2 point multi touch and it only has 4 sensors which you can see below. Antutu score is at around 17,000.

The battery life is kinda poor to me. On my standard battery video rundown test, the device only managed to get less than 4 hours out of 1350 mAh battery from 100% to 2%. Usually, I get around 5.5 to 6 hours on it's competitors. On real life test, I can only maxed out on around 12 hours. The main issue for me is it easily gets heat usually just after 10 minutes of navigation mainly juggling to social media, calls and texts.

On audio and video, no suprises as we already knew how is 4 inch WVGA display looks like. Listening is a-ok but unfortunately, the audio jack is now CTIA compliant

And the camera samples of it's 2 MP rear cam which only works best outside. It has f/2.2 aperture

And the selfie using it's VGA front camera

Pros: Solid build, presentable design, neat UI, a-ok audio
Cons: Non CTIA compliant phone, poor battery life

Based on it's last price that I got based on their promo last Christmas season, the price of Ekophone Rogue is at Php 2,499 which is a-ok but Intel SoFIA needs to have some improvements which brought some problems in my everyday navigation esp. the battery life. Nice try by Ekotek by bringing this one up. I have 3.25 out of 5 for Ekophone Rogue 3
