Alongside with the Philippine launch of Sony Xperia Z5 family, they also their 2 newest smartphones with Mediatek SoC. This blog post, I concentrated on the Sony Xperia M5 dual.
It was my first time to try a smartphone with Mediatek Helio X10 SoC. The front has 13 MP selfie cam, Sony logo and 5 inch IPS FHD LCD display. The back has 21.2 PDAF rear camera with flash and Sony logo. The device also has 3 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM, dual nano SIM and 2,600 mAh non-removable battery.
3.5 mm. audio jack and noise cancelling mic at the top, single speaker and micro USB port at the bottom.
The flap with has 2 trays for dual nano SIM and micro SD at the left, signature Xperia power/unlock button, volume rocker and physical shutter button at the right.
A glance of the latest Xperia UI which is kinda near to stock Android Lollipop.
Expected that the M5 Dual has unified storage out of 16 GB ROM which is awesome. I found out that if you want to fully utilize the 21 MP rear camera, you have to put it on manual mode, same goes for the selfie camera.
And the camera samples. I didn't adjust anything on the manual mode. The rear and selfie cameras have f/2 and f/2.2 aperture respectively. Both are in 4:3 aspect ratio.

First impressions: I'm impressed at the overall appearance of the M5 Dual which can be your more affordable alternative to the Xperia Z5. The Xperia UI is a bit faster compared to the Xperia Z3 series that I had. As expected, both camera output are outstanding for it's price. One lil bad thing for me which is a a bit slow processing on taking pics. That's kinda questionable as Helio X10 is one powerful processor.
Sony Xperia M5 Dual is already available in Sony stores and accredited dealers for Php 21,990 (cash)
