Another phone that I'll gonna see in a smartphone launch is always a bonus for me. During the recent Alcatel Flash 2 launch, we really had a good time with some Alcatel PH officials. I am lucky that one of them showed me something that will be available soon for postpaid.
Meet the Alcatel Idol 3. For this hands-on, I had the 5.5 inch version. I'm glad that I saw this coz a few months ago, those US-based tech sites and Youtube channels are always have this smartphone model and Zenfone 2 on the top choices for phones at around US$250 price tag. The official gave us a confirmation that the specs that we saw on various international tech sites are also the same one here that will be available in the country.
The front has 5.5 inch IPS FHD LCD display with 8 MP front camera, LED notification and dual front speakers. At the back, there's 13 MP AF rear cam with LED flash, Idol and Alcatel One Touch logos. It has Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor inside. Unfortunately, I was able to get the info if the available phone will be in dual SIM version. Based on one of the pictures below, I had the 2 GB RAM/16 GB ROM version on this blog post.
3.5 mm. audio jack and noise-cancelling mic at the top, pin-hole mic and micro USB port at the bottom.
Volume rocker at the left, power/unlock button and (looks like) SIM tray at the right part which you have to use a SIM ejector tray.
I confirmed that the device here was the 2 GB/16 GB variant based on this picture which has unified storage set-up (usable is 11.04 GB). It has NFC and yeah! there's LTE only option.
I chose not to take some pics of UI itself for respect and privacy to the Alcatel PH official. Based on navigating the settings, it was fun to use and it was also one of thinnest and lightest 5.5 inch smartphones that I had which I can easily navigate on one hand. It will be available soon for Globe Postpaid at Plan 1499. As of this posting, there's no list yet on the postpaid section of official Globe website.
