You saw it first here last Holy Week on the landmark tablet that is Cloudpad Epic 7.1 which is the country's first ever Android and Windows 7 inch tablet in one. As I got the invite to their event yesterday, I really expected that I'll gonna see that device and here's what I got
At front, you'll gonna see the 7 inch IPS 1280 x 800 display and 2 MP front camera. At the back, there's the 5 MP rear camera and Cloudpad. The back cover is not removable and it has a finish which is kinda between the matte and glossy side. One thing, no problems in finger prints. At this pic, I'm on Android. To switch to Windows, you have to turn off the device then turn on again and you'll have 10 seconds to choose your OS.
I'll not gonna show you the sides of this device coz of what I saw on their test device at the event. Days after that I saw this in their website, one Cloudfone official confirmed that this device has micro HDMI but the only test device during that day doesn't have it which gave me some confusion. The same Cloudfone official was also surprised when I told about it as they promised to me that they will gonna show the "final unit"
A glimpse of the "dual boot" OS that I said in my previous paragraph and Windows "The Metro" mode on portrait mode.
Coz it has 2 operating systems, I discovered the storage story of this device out of 32 GB ROM. On Android, it has a respectable 6.6 GB of app storage which is good enough. On Windows, it only has the C drive which has 13.2 GB. Over 3 GB was already taken so there's still 8 GB for your essential Windows programs and apps. There's free Office 365 inside for a year and the device has micro USB port for storage (works on both OS)
On Antutu, we tested the 1.8 GHz Intel Atom Z3735G quad-core processor and it got a nice 31,843 score which is not far behind when I encountered an international Android tablet with an Intel Atom Z3745 quad-core processor.
Another issue that I checked: if this device can be charged on micro USB port via a powerbank on Windows and it worked. I had this coz there are some local Windows tablets that cannot be charged on powerbank which is no-no for those in the go.
I'll add to my first impressions, the device can play Full HD videos (in MP4) smoothly when I tested it via MX Player but one thing that I didn't like so far, the 3.5 mm. audio jack is not CTIA compliant when I tested it on my Mi Pistons V2 earphones.
I smiled that from Php 5,999, Cloudpad Epic 7.1 will now at a lower price of Php 4,999
