Intel Philippines gladly invited me together with select media as they presented on what they have done this 2014.
Intel Philippines Country Manager Mr. Calum Chisholm led their presentation. 2014 was the year of the roll-out of Intel to tablets many thanks to the increasing demand of Filipinos to Android plus very competitive in terms of specs to price ratio from various local and international tablet brands. In addition, there are also a demand for 2-in-1 Windows devices (tablet and laptop in one) which provided more mobility options.
Intel Philippines also brought in the good news on Digibayanihan 2014 with the help of various NGOs which helped a number of Filipinos who don’t have access to computer literacy.
In 2015, they projected that it will be a bigger year for wearables. One wearable that I was amazed from their contest in the U.S., named Nixie, a start up project which a typical bracelet can be like a super lightweight drone which they can take your selfies from above. I like this thing to bring it soon for my upcoming blogging coverage. The new Sofia mobile SoC is also coming. The dual core will have the 3G model support while in 4Q of 2015, expect to see the quad-core version with LTE support. Of course, a lot more Intel-powered devices from the Android and Windows space.
As a surprise, they brought in the soon-to-be-released Intel Compute Stick. Imagine that you have a computer that can be put inside your pocket. It will run on a Windows-based system. No official specs and price yet but in my pictures, we can already have a sneak peek. It can be connected via HDMI plus it has 2 micro-USB slots, 1 USB slot, a micro SD slot and a LED indicator plus a built in WiFi. An 3G/LTE variant will be followed. My guess is it can’t run heavy games as of now but based on their slide, you can do your documents and check your social media accounts. This will be officially launched this 1Q 2015.
