Cherry Mobile B5 review

Last month, we looked for a budget phone for one of our family members who only needs to call or text and we saw one of the many phones that Cherry Mobile launched (together with those interesting Android phones), the Cherry Mobile B5 priced at P499

We loved the form factor, the price, the menu UI and the size of the keypad of this device but the downer is there’s no free earphones. Good to know is it’s price.

Charging time took only around 1.5 hours. The bluetooth feature is ok and quick in terms of transfer. We were surprised that for a feature phone, it can read a 4000 x 3000 pic from our smartphone. The signal is clear for both texts and calls.

For messaging, we love the UI coz in only a scroll of directional button (left or right), you can access the inbox, outbox, draft and saved items in one go. It is a bit slow when you are about to type 2 different letters in 1 button (example: for the word BAL, you have to press the number 2 twice). You have to wait 3 blinks of the line (when you already typed in letter B) when you are about to type the letter A but we love the keypad.

For multimedia like we used to encounter in other feature phones, you have to create My Music folder (for audio) and Video (for video) for the phone to be able to read it. For audio player, a good feature that you can also see the artist name and the album name. For video, it can read up to 320 x 240p mobile mp4 file. Press the 2 button if you want to watch it on full screen. On the speaker, it is a-ok and it is already loud and clear when our volume is at 10 (the max. volume is 15)

For our verdict, we give it 3.5 out of 5. Cherry Mobile B5 is available nationwide in Cherry Mobile stores, kiosks and other mobile phone stores.
