After they unveiled a recent innovation which we will have a separate article about it, Smart just brought in a first in Asia with the reveal of Smart Multi SIM and TNT eSIM Dot
Now every people who wish to have an eSIM but his/her device does not have an eSIM support can now avail of any of the two products.
Smart Communications COO Anastacio "Boy" Martirez and First VP Lloyd Manaloto led these two innovations from the mobile telco
The main requirements as it is at least Android 9 OS and up and has a physical sim slot. The price is Php 119 and it has 5 GB of open access data and 10 minutes of calls an 100 texts to all networks valid for 3 days. In addition, the app can support up to 5 eSIM profiles
Smart Multi SIM and TNT eSIM Dot were also created to make it easier to switch your SIM to another device in case you need which is one of the pain points for me and most of local smartphone tech media who will really gonna do their real-life reviews with their SIM in it.
When asked on the possible mobile number portability or for those who are using a normal Smart/TNT physical and wants to switch to either of said two products, it will be available soon
When I asked on my concern if the said app can adapt on various phones with different custom OS (example: Magic OS for HONOR, HiOS for Tecno, etc) as long as it is at least Android 9, the app must work properly as long as there as a physical sim support. This also applies to Android tablets with the said OS and sim slot and previous Huawei devices with GMS as they tried it and it did not work on Huawei devices which do not have GMS even if you try to sideload an app because of security requirement according to Smart's VP for Innovations and Digital Servicees Mr. Jerome Almirante
