Held as early as late May 2025, we finally got our verdict on the new HONOR 400 - the newest on HONOR Philippines number phone series.
You can check out our unboxing and first impressions here
HONOR 400 is still using Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC which is visible on the previous HONOR 200 but this time, they had Magic OS 9 based on Android 15 with up to 6 OS updates. The custom OS still impressed me in handling multi tasking activities and some heavy lifting chores in the phone
The phone has 512 GB storage which has more leeway for me to shoot more 4K or FHD 60 fps videos in it. Nothing bad to say on the connectivity department as it flied with colors on calls, texts, mobile data, WiFi, Bluetooth, HONOR Share and GPS.
Not advertised as a gaming phone but HONOR 400 really passed on me without hiccups at up to the max level settings on MLBB.
With it's Silicon Carbon battery of 6,000 mAh battery, the phone lasted for me for mostly at 1.5 days of usage in heavy mode including a few video rendering. Charging it with provided 100 watts charger (although the max input is only 80 watts) can charge the phone to 100% in under an hour.
As they are highlighting more AI to video features, the camera is definitely expected to be one of the strengths of HONOR 400 as we are getting quality photos even up to 30x zoom. FHD 60 fps and 4K videos are very usable for a midrange phone like this.
Here are some of the camera samples:
If there are some downers on this device, some might think of HONOR still used the same processor as to HONOR 200 but the speaker - a bit higher on the average side but hearing the same rock tunes with main driver HONOR X9b was a lot better. The upper speaker of HONOR 400 which is also the one hearing for calls is the weak spot. The bit smaller display compared to HONOR 200 was a-ok as the display was very good, more options to play on its AI capabilities on photo and video. More on the strengths of HONOR 400 were bigger battery capacity, OS, connectivity, camera and Php 2,000 less compared to HONOR 200. A rare treat that most of the competitors are either keeping the same SRP or higher than the previous model.
HONOR 400 for me is 4.5 out of 5 and it is now available in HONOR Philippines official offline and online sales channels.
