After it had for a number of years, we finally got the chance to attend Trend Micro's yearly event DECODE and for 2024 edition, they got a number of topics that were tackled.
First, we attended the Cybersecurity Risk Management media meeting with Trend Micro Senior Antivirus Researcher David Sancho
David discussed more on the rampant and dangerous effects of deepfakes. From getting personal informations from KYCs up to a simple picture of a passort from a person, deepfakes were really on a high that it already became a business ranging from USD 100 to thousands of dollars from photo to even a video
From the discussion, they even showed a video using the face of a known personality A in the body of a known personality B which you can check more from our video here
The main event was in the Isla Ballroom of Edsa Shang which was presented by Trend Micro Director of Forward Looking Threat Reserach Robert Mcardle
The exec discussed on mostly on generative AI and ransomware which victimizing big organizations which according to him, it was already got USD 460 million just in 1H 2024.
Overall, Decode 2024 event by Trend Micro was successful in their fourth year with almost thousands of attendees from officials down to students.
