MPL Press Corps, MOONTON Bring Esports Journalism Workshop to Adamson, UP

After a successful first leg, the MPL Philippines Press Corps is set to hold the second and third editions of the M5 Esports Journalism Workshop in two different campuses on November 25 and 27 to end the year.

The group’s second stop will be at Adamson University, partnering with the school’s official publication, the Adamson Chronicle, to hold another talk that will include four topics – Basic Esports and Sports Writing, Features Writing, Mobile Journalism, and Media Ethics on Friday.

Reynald Magallon from Manila Bulletin will share his expertise in covering traditional sports and esports, while Mario Limos from Spin.ph and Esquire will discuss the art of writing feature stories.

AC Coloma from ABS-CBN News will explore the nitty-gritty of mobile journalism and Michelle Lojo from Philstar.com will delve into the ethical principles of journalism in the workshop presented by Razer Gold.

“We are excited to bring the M5 Esports Journalism Workshop to our partner organizations and universities to make it bigger and cater to more young, aspiring journalists,” said MOONTON Games Regional PR Manager Keith Medrano.

“We thank the MPL Philippines Press Corps for this meaningful collaboration and we hope to see the participants seizing the opportunities in store for them,” he added.

The MPL PH Press Corps will then head to Diliman, teaming up with the UP College of Mass Communication, the UP Film Institute, and Esports Prime Media Inc. to conduct the third leg of the workshop in University of the Philippines Diliman.

Magallon, Limos, and Lojo will be joined by Calvin Trilles of ONE Esports in the final leg to facilitate an in-depth discussion of the lingos used in Esports Journalism on Monday.

Last October, the MPL PH press corps held the first leg during the regular season of the MPL Philippines Season 12 where students from Ateneo, UP, UST, Adamson, Letran, Lyceum, NU Laguna, and Cavite State University took part in a three-part program that included six courses.
