One of their newest A series phones with 5G, we took a spin on Samsung Galaxy A23 5G for our verdict.
There are two variants of the said phone, the 6 GB RAM version and the higher version at 8 GB RAM which we took. Please check our first look by playing the video below:
Almost the same on what we checked on our Galaxy Z Flip4 review, we experienced the same UI form on Galaxy A23 5G via One UI 4.1. Snapdragon 695 was their choice of processor . For those who might ask, this smartphone only supports up to Full HD in Youtube playback
Connectivity was a-ok on calls, texts, Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS. Surprised that it has dual 5G function too.
On battery, it has 5,000 mAh inside which from our online video battery rundown test it lasted for 28 hours and 20 minutes. It was an easy 1.5 day-smartphone for us on this with mixed usage on LTE and 5G connectivity, dual sim and in heavy usage. As Samsung PH did not provide us an official charger, we got no choice but to stick with a third party 40 watt charger and it charged for under 2 hours.
With the said processor, it gave us over 388,000 and 391,000 score on Antutu on normal and performance modes.
On cameras, not a suprise that Galaxy A23 5G can only shoot up to FHD 30 fps on both rear and front cameras. Almost the basic modes were present like portrait, photo and others. On almost all modes, Galaxy A23 5G produced a bit more than average in terms of quality. You can only put watermark on photos.

For this variant, Samsung Galaxy A23 5G is at Php 18,990 which is surprisingly not that much competitors in the said space if you will compare the SoC and pricing. The asking price is good enough with that Samsung branding which is most of the time, you have to a pay a little more for the branding plus it has 5G compared to the near pricing of an LTE-only phone with Helio G99 processor. The only thing that we did not like is fingerprint-smudgy back cover. Camera, connectivity, UI and battery plus 3.5 mm audio jack were the strong points of this midranger from Samsung.
Samsung Galaxy A23 5G for us is 4.5 out of 5.
