Narzo 50 Unboxing, Review Philippines

It was our first time since they started with "10" to check and review a Narzo unit. Things changed as even realme created a separate social media page and own Lazada store. Fast forward to today, we drop our verdict on Narzo 50

You can check our unboxing and first look through the video below:

By surprise specs-wise and almost got the size and near on design, Narzo 50 has similarities on realme 8i which we never had a chance to review so we do not have an idea on it's performance and it's camera quality.

This review will be based on A.54

Narzo 50 with 6 GB RAM version and Mediatek Helio G96 processor either on 60 Hz on 120 Hz display refresh rate worked fine for us for most of multi-tasking modes that we did. The DRE feature was also helpful if you really want to have a smoother experience in the phone. realme UI 2.0 is already a familiar territory if you are in another realme phone. Like what the said SoC's database said, it can play up to 2K video based on our Youtube viewing.

You will only be missing 5G mobile internet but if that is not your priority then you will be at home on Narzo 50 on connectivity department from LTE, Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, calls, texts and OTG.

Different display refresh rates mean a number of benchmarks to check. The phone has 7 out of 9 working sensors and it really showed some good numbers on Antutu at it's given processor.

Here are the Antutu scores of Narzo 50 in our tests in different modes:

Narzo 50 Antutu normal mode, 60 Hz display refresh rate

Narzo 50 Antutu performance mode, 60 Hz display refresh rate

Narzo 50 Antutu normal mode, 120 Hz display refresh rate

Narzo 50 Antutu performance mode, 120 Hz display refresh rate

On battery, our video battery rundown test on 60 Hz refresh rate told that Narzo 50 survived on 27 hours and 40 minutes. Using it on heavy usage, the phone managed to an average of around 1.25 to 1.5 days. Topping up with it's provided 33 watt charger from 0 to 100% battery can go for around 90 minutes.

For it's asking price, Narzo 50 worked above average for us in terms of various photo modes that we selected. On video, it was more than enough to use it's output for simple vlogging or uploading some Youtube videos although there are some questions that we need to left here. Helio G96 can shoot videos on either 2K 30 fps or Full HD 60 fps which Narzo 50 can only shoot FHD 30 fps videos. In comparison, a competing smartphone that we previously reviewed with nearer and a bit weaker Helio G95 SoC can shoot 4K 30 fps and FHD 60 fps videos on both rear and front cameras. Not sure on why the brand did it as we will gonna try to ask it soon.

Extras: We noticed that the device does not work on the latest app version of MX Player when we activated audio background mode. Unlike on other Android phones that we have in our hub, sound  of Narzo 50 will stop after a few seconds after we turn off the display even that we tweraked a number of app battery background settings. I hope the brand can fix it soon

As long as you don't mind 5G just yet, Narzo 50 has great value for it's camera quality, connecivity, user interface,  connectivity and battery. There might be some issues for Php 9,990 asking price (it even went to Php 1,000 less last Lazada 6.6 sale) as there are a few phones at the same price range or for less but with 5G connectivity but with with less camera quality. What needs to check is the video shooting capabilities which is not into it compared to what it's processor can really do.

For us, Narzo 50 is 4 out of 5. The 6 GB RAM version of it has an official price of Php 9,990 in the Philippines at their official Narzo Philipppines store on Lazada but who knows, we might gonna see the Php 8,990 sale price once again like what happened to the online store's recent 6.6 sale.
