It's been a while that Huawei Philippines offered an under 10k smartphone so in time with their first ever Nova Y smartphone, they brought in the Huawei Nova Y70 in the country in our hub for a review
You can check our unboxing and first look in the video below:
As we recently had the Huawei Nova 9 SE, we were at home with EMUI 12 which we felt that it is a bit lighter compared to custom-based Android UIs of other competing brands. We said it as we have Kirin 710A processor paired with 4 GB of RAM. We do not have virtual RAM expansion in here but the jobs gets done on multitasking mode. Day by day, we getting more usable apps on Huawei AppGallery as we even enjoyed editing videos and even putting video watermarks on this device.
Connectivity is always an ace most on the time on Huawei devices as long as not having 5G mobile data is not your thing. The device only has 2.4 Ghz WiFi but no problems for us roaming around the house and even on other WiFi-enabled places. LTE, calls, texts, Bluetooth and GPS did not gave us any headaches. One thing that could be done better is having true dual sim support with micro SD inserted in one tray.

On benchmarks, Huawei Nova Y70 scored on over 193,000 on Antutu in normal mode and almost 211,000 on performance mode. The device has 7 out of 9 working sensors.
On battery, the device has 6.75 inch HD+ display and 6,000 mAh battery which on our video battery rundown test, it survived in 27 hours and 10 minutes. With 22.5 watt super charge support (which also works on the 40 watt charger of Huawei Nova 7 5G) , it can fully charge this device for less than 1 1/2 hours. With our heavy usage as always with the handset, we only need to charge this handset thrice in a week. It means that it can go for us for over 48 hours per charge in average.
With it's triple main camera set-up with it's 48 MP primary sensor, the default settings would go for 12 MP shots. In most of low light and mixed lighting, it produced more than average in our liking. HDR shots and night shots will give you a few seconds of waiting for the image processing. Good thing that it can shoot up to FHD+ 60 fps . Low light shots can be a bit of a struggle as long as you will use that manual focus . On using pro mode, it can go from ISO 50 to 3200 and from 1/4000 to 30 secs. of shutter speed. Selfie shots produce average in us as long as you are in a good lighted area.

On extras: We missed this feature on a number of recent EMUI-powered Huawei phones. Finally, the 3.5 mm audio jack and FM radio are back.
What we like on Huawei Nova Y70 will be the display quality and huge 6.75 inch display, huge 6,000 mAh battery with 22.5 charging, audio jack, FM radio, UI, working cameras, connectivity, design and battery life. How I wish that the device offered true dual sim + micro SD slot combo and go to FHD+ display (it's ok if they went to a bit smaller like 6.5 inch display) .
