Huawei Nova 9 SE Unboxing, Review
We missed the regular version of it but for us, this is the more important version of Huawei Nova 9 which they are back on under the 15k high midrange bracket. Our verdict on Huawei Nova 9 SE.
You can check our unboxing and second look below in the video:
Compared to Huawei Nova 8 with HarmonyOS, Huawei chose to inject EMUI 12 on Nova 9 SE which is not that much difference in interface, pulldown menu and even the entire settings. Out of the box, you can get 111 GB of remaining storage on 128 GB ROM. This is good enough for this phone without a micro SD slot as long as you are not heavy in video shooting. We do not have any problems on it's Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor inside to power this device.
Missing 5G on this handset, Huawei Nova 9 SE was very good in connectivity department from calls, texts. LTE. WiFi in dual band and GPS plus it's USB-C port can support wireless lavaliers.
On battery with it's 6.71 inch FHD+ display and 4,000 mAh battery if to base on our video battery rundown test, it perfomed a bit low in average in 17 hours and 20 minutes but good to know that usage for it on heavy mode survived on us for more than 24 hours. Putting it from zero to 100% with 66 watt charging can top it for less than 40 minutes.
On benchmarks, Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 scored at under 300k on Antutu even that we activated performance from over 227,000 and 267,000 respectively.
Camera for us the main headliner of Huawei Nova 9 SE with it's 108 MP primary sensor. For us, we prefer the default 12 MP shot over the 108 MP as sometimes at the latter, it defocused a bit at first before you are about to tap it once again. For some reason even that we have an OTA update, the selfie camera after you will take a lot of selfies in a short span of time that it will give a slower image processing time. Ultra wide, macro shots and most of our videos (vlogs to be uploaded soon on Ron Not The DJ Youtube channel) were very good for the asking price and what to expect in a midrange Qualcomm chip.
Here are our camera samples:
Huawei Nova 9 SE rear camera samples
Huawei Nova 9 SE front camera sample (low light)
Huawei Nova 9 SE normal to 108 MP rear camera comparison
Huawei Nova 9 SE normal to night mode camera comparison
Huawei Nova 9 SE normal to ultra wide camera comparison
Huawei Nova 9 SE 1x, 5x, 10x zoom camera comparison
The strengths of Huawei Nova 9 SE for us is their choice of processor, EMUI 12 itself, big display, connectivity, most in the camera department and that 66 watt charging. Something that Huawei must check are the instability and hiccups that we encountered in taking 108 MP primary and by-the-minute selfies plus it does not have AMOLED display. Php 13,999 might be a bit steep pricing but it has "bawi factors" on the sensor, number of camera modes and the very fast charging.
For us, it's 4 out of 5 for Huawei Nova 9 SE
