Moto G50 5G Unboxing, Review Philippines

Motorola Philippines came back to approach us with their budget 5G smartphone which will be on promo price soon.

Here is Moto G50 5G as we got the official commercial unit version.

You can check our unboxing and first look video below:

Like on the previous Moto smartphone that we reviewed, not much changes on the stock-ish Android 11 that we encountered on Moto G50 5G. As clean as you can get

Aside from Moto app, there's almost no bloatware as you can see here. Happy that with the latest software update, Moto activated their own version of "extended RAM" tech which pushed it's RAM from 4 GB to virtually 5 GB RAM.

Connectivity was almost at it on this device from mobile data (LTE), calls, texts, Bluetooth and WiFi. We noticed that the 5G mobile data reception as well as the GPS is mostly at low accuracy when we had a stroll around Lipa

On benchmarks, it scored on over 267,000 (normal mode) and 293,000 (performance mode) with it's Dimensity 700 processor.

On battery with it's 5,000 mAh battery, it survived as at average at 1.5 days on heavy usage. Charging at 15 watt is kinda slow these days as it can go from zero to 100% in 2.5 hours.

You can check our vlogging series here which we explored the video capabilities

On camera for it's asking price, the photos were on average as well for the video camera on both rear and front cameras. Happy to know that it has auto-mirror mode on video but for some reason, Moto only chose to have Full HD 30 fps on both cameras as default video quality. For a budget, it can shoot as long as you got adequate lighting

Here are the photo samples:

The strengths of Moto G50 5G will be the stock-ish Android,  big battery, HD yet one of the best quality in display for it's said resolution and cameras..

We can forgive the 4 + 1 GB RAM and a bit huge chin on it's display (especially if you will gonna get at promo price this March) but the poor 5G reception and GPS reception were a concern for us so you might not choose this if you want a smartphone mainly for navigaton while travelling or driving.

Official price of Moto G50 5G is Php 10,490 but this March 27 to 29 2022 at Lazada Philippines, you can buy it at promo price of Php 8,290

For us, Moto G50 5G is 3.75 out of 5.
