AMD Enters Q4 With Momentum

AMD has built significant momentum this year and is focused on aggressively driving its product and technology roadmaps.

AMD has gained revenue share for the 6th straight quarter in PCs as Ryzen 5000 processor shipments increased by a double-digit percentage sequentially. Gaming also continues to be a high-growth segment for AMD, with significant growth in Radeon GPU sales and strong demand for Sony and Microsoft game consoles powered by semi-custom chips.

Impressive sales in client computing are also driving market share gains, as seen this week in the latest Mercury Research Q3 2021 x86 CPU Market Share report:

AMD increased overall x86 unit share by 2.1 points quarter-over-quarter, resulting in share of 24.6 percent.

Of note, 24.6 percent unit share is the 2nd highest overall x86 share number ever. AMD’s highest overall x86 share was 25.3% dating back to 4Q2006.

AMD notebook x86 unit share, excluding IoT, was 22.0 percent, a new all-time high for AMD. This is a gain of 1.8 share points year-over-year.

AMD notebook revenue also hit an all-time high of 16.2 percent in 3Q21, increasing 1.3 share points Q-Q, and 3.9 share points Y-Y.

And this is just the beginning. AMD is on track to launch next generation products in 2022 and is investing significantly to secure additional manufacturing capacity to support long-term growth
