Samsung Galaxy A02s Unboxing, Review
In an unexpected event, we finally got a chance to review still one of Samsung Philippines's latest in their budget A series and unlike others, it will be the first time to see it on Android 11.
Meet the Samsung Galaxy A02s. Just to be clear, we got the one in 4 GB RAM/64 GB ROM version.
You can check out our unboxing and first look video here:
After our first boot for the first time, we instantly got an alert for One UI 3.1 based on Android 11. It was almost or over 2 GB of update. Downloading the OTA update was a-ok for us.
Running with an already old Qualcomm Snapdragon 450, it was miles ahead in terms of responsiveness based on some Samsung entry-level phones that I got on first version of One UI. I am gonna pic this one over with the likes of some Mediatek Helio P phones
Out of 64 GB storage, you will gonna get around 51 GB remaining app space. Obvious that it does not have 5G but the phone worked out fine in the connectivity space from Bluetooth, calls, texts, WiFi, mobile data and GPS. As an added bonus, this device has VoLTE support which is now operational in almost all of telcos here in the country.
Even at a custom Android 11 version in an entry-level phone, good thing that we managed to run Antutu which scored at 101,568.
On battery with it's 20:9 HD+ display and 5000 mAh capacity, Samsung Galaxy A02s managed in 29 hours and 35 minutes. Charging the device with it's 15 watt charger can fully top up in around 2 hours and 15 minutes
On cameras., we fcocused more on it's 13 MP f/2.2 primary shooter and 5 MP selfie cam as the depth and macro sensors are not that good from our check. For a Php 6990 phone, we were surprised in the overall photo quality that we got mostly on mixed, a bit low and high lighting environments in almost all of the available modes that we tried from auto, HDR and wide angle. Panorama is good enough. The ability to do normal and wide selfies are welcome additions for this budget Samsung Android phone. Expecting for it's processor limitations, you can only shoot up to Full HD video at 30 fps.

Design, battery, software and guaranteed software support and quality camera output for the asking price were the key selling points to us of Samsung Galaxy A02s. We did not find some annoying so the main weakness that we can tell is the choice of processor as you cannot run some demanding online mobile games compared to the likes of Tecno Camon 16 at the same price but with Helio G70 (plus 6 GB RAM, 128 GB ROM) or add Php 500 to it and get a Helio G85 phone (with 48 MP primary cam and 6000 mAh battery) on realme C25s. For us, I will gonna give 3.75 out of 5 for Samsung Galaxy A02s which is still available at their stores as well as your known online shopping apps/sites.
