Moto G 5G Plus Unboxing, Review (On Android 11)
It's been months since we requested for this device since they introduced it late last year and even had some changes in the personnel behind the scenes and finally, just our second 5G smartphone to review and it was special even we are late.
Meet Moto G 5G Plus but unlike in the previous local tech reviews, an #RNTDFirst that you will gonna see it on Android 11
You can check our unboxing and lil first look of the said device in our video below:
I did not have a long view of it's Android 10 version of this smartphone but based on what I saw online, there are not that much changes that brought in to Android 11 but it does not mean that it's bad. With the power of Snapdragon 765, this device flys on almost any task or multi-tasking mode that we brought in. There are still some Moto gestures in here like the famous "chop chop motion:" for flashlight. You can still choose between gestures or navigation keys as your control option. Dark mode and always on display were splendid on it's 6.7 inch 21:9 AMOLED display (yup it was a quite display).
Connectivity was a bad surprise for us given that the phone has a Snapdragon inside and it is from Moto. Usually in almost all 5G phones, you can easily see 5G in either auto or manual network selection but for some reason, 5G will only appear if you are really in a very strong 5G coverage. The network selection only has choices of 2G only, 3G only, 4G only and 5G only. We brought this usually in most indoor areas in Lipa City and the mobile data on 4G was also not that strong in indoors unlike in the other 5G phone that we reviewed recently. The phone is only offering hybrid dual sim set-up. On the good side, the phone performed well on WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, calls and texts.
On benchmarks as there is no performance mode in Moto G 5G Plus, the device scored at almost 372,000 on Antutu. Seven out of nine sensors were present on this device.
On battery, video battery rundown test on this device gave us 28 hours and 40 minutes with it's 5000 mAh battery. With it's 20 watt Turbo Power charger, the device was fully charged for around 2 hours. In real-life usage, the device usally lasted for us at around 1.25 days in heavy mode.
On cameras, you might think that the phone does not have that much to offer based on the UI but not. Portrait mode was one of the best that we tried so far this 2021. More than average shooter of this device on auto, HDR and night mode. Video shooting has wide range from HD up to 4K at 30 fps. itr can also shoot either in 60 fps or 21:9 mode. As expected with it's high midranger, shooting in 4K will be a bit not stabilized. Selfies on low light is good enough

Rare AMOLED display in FHD+ 21:9 mode, stock-like Android 11, choice of processor and very good performance in cameras were the strengths of Moto G 5G Plus but the difficulty on 5G connectivity and configuration was a big blow for us on this one.
Our rating for Moto G 5G Plus will be 3.75 out of 5. Moto G 5G Plus is still available thru Lazada Philippines for Php 16,995
