Huawei Philippines continues to make us busy in a good way in the wearable with the much-anticipated follow up to Huawei Band 4 and 4e mainly of two new improvements - Huawei Band 6.
See more from our unboxing and first impressions here:
We are talking about a much bigger display at 1.47 inches (which they called it as Full Vision display) and AMOLED which a big factor especially if you are outside during daytime
With bigger display comes with better interactive watch faces. I am not sure yet but if I am right, this is the first time in their wearable that you can keep the display on for five minutes. The staple features for a weaerable band were there like for exercie guides, SpO2 (which is much important nowadays at these times of the pandemic), app notifications for some in the list like SMS (but I noticed that the device does not support notifs from Google Messages app), music playback, breathing exercise controls. can also be used as a flashlight, sleep and stress monitoring and my most fave (coming as a Huawei Band 4e user), the real time heart beat monitor which means no more need to pause for a few seconds to get that measuremenmt. It can go with the flow even when I do brisk walking on some of my errands. The steps counter also worked good on my part.
Like in their previous models, downloading Huawei Health app (Google Play, AppGallery, App Store) is must which worked properly in 2 smartphones that I paired. From the app, you just need to open your mobile data/WiFi , bluetooth and GPS for setting it up for the first time. A familiar territory if you are a Huawei Band 4/4e user as you can easily see the interactive info from sleep analysis, heart beat, SPo2, changing watch faces and you can see more on your stress levels. Huawei was true to their point that you can run in on a two-week battery. In my case, occasional syncing it with Bluetooth and mobile data while on transport for important notifications like SMS and real time heart beat monitoring. I also noticed that the device only took less time to check SpO2. I set the display brightness on 3 (maximum of 5) and you can still easily see the display even on noontime. Coz it is fast charging, it only took me more than 30 minutes to fully charge this device.
Compared to the pricing of Huawei Band 4 at Php 1890, Huawei Band 6 is selling at Php 2599. For me, the additional 709 pesos to the SRP is worth for over 60% bigger display, enables you to do on demand heart beat monitoring, AMOLED and faster charging. The only concern for us is the must-have replacement for it's USB Type A to pogo cable in case that you need to replace it. I would love to see it to charge via direct regular USB by removing one of the two band straps. For me, the frontrunner so far in this year's wearable band in the country. it's 4.5 out of 5 for Huawei Band 6 which you can now buy it with free thermos at Huawei PH's own online store as well as to Lazada PH and Shopee
