Like in our nth time, we were there once again in another local flagship smartphone launch of Samsung Philippines via the Galaxy S20 series. Unlike in the previous days, we were able to check out the commercial unit versions of Samsung Galaxy S20 and Samsung Galaxy S20+
As they were identical (except for the display) as well on the available buttons and ports so we decided to make it as one for our first look on Samsung Galaxy S20 and Samsung Galaxy S20+. Both of them had that thin profile and almost no bezels at one look. At least even on the standard version, you can now have a Quad HD+ display, As expected, the camera bump is visble on both devices so better to have that protective case ready (and also to prevent that accidental slips on your hand)
It was our first time to have these phones on One UI 2 based on Android 10. Not that much changes compared to One UI but still the transitions and some simulated muti tasking activities that we do, no problem on these devices. One noticeable change that we checked was the native dark mode support.
Here are some of the camera samples. Not sure if it was a bit of a step back that Galaxy S20 and S20+ only has f/2.2 on their selfies. From their 30x digital zoom even with our steady hands, we think that it is not that usable compared to likes on what we checked on some Huawei devices. Both cameras of these devices were a-ok on that complicated lighting that we encountered at the venue at the Grand Ballroom of Grand Hyatt Manila
