It took us for a few months for a reason but it might a worthwhile check on one of Huawei Philippines' first attempts in the audio market (and our first one too)
Meet Huawei Freelace which is one of the first devices that we saw with USB Type C charging. It has two colors in orange and the one that we got, black. Here is the front of the box
Here is what the back looks like with some of the key information about the product
The package comes with that inner black box, user manual and extra earbuds depending on the size of your ear hole.
This is what the actual Huawei Freelace looks like as the back of the buds has that magnetic ends which it will gonna pause your music but it will not gonna playback once you retract it.
The other side will reveal the USB Type C end which can be charged either by a smartphone with USB Type C port that supports reverse charging or thru it's provided USB Type C to regular USB cable. Charging is around an hour. On their promised 16 hour battery life, it was on target as we had it as our main audio device on the go or even at home.
On pairing it on phones, press the button to turn it on then press and hold until you hear the word "pairing". If you need to turn off the product, just press the button once
What we took some time to come out with the review is the "burning" process that we did as it took us awhile to figure out it's best possible sound as we achieved it after around 5 full usages of it. We had a number of smartphones with BT 4.2 and BT 5.0 and we had no problems on pairing. We noticed that we only need around 50% in volume to satisfy our music well. Just to mention, this is no an ANC BT earphones. If there is one audio profile that we can notice on Huawei Freebuds, it is on the balanced side but a bit lacking in terms of bass.
For future ready charging, long battery life, easy pairing and comfort and a-ok sound were the strengths of Huawei Freelace but I hope they adjust a bit on the pricing as we knew there's a competitor that it only has 25% less on battery life yet it was at Php 1,500 more affordable. It's gonna be 4 out of 5 for Huawei Freelace
You can buy the Huawei Freelace in Huawei's official store in Lazada Philippines thru this link for Php 3,490
