Honor 8C Review

Honor 8C is currently one of the entry-level smartphones that you can find right now with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor but is it still relevant as of today? Here's our verdict.

Quite a rare treat for Honor that we had a Qualcomm chip alongside with it's custom EMUI based on Android 9 Pie and it was a-ok for us and minimal case of sluggish moments. You can still enjoy most out of EMUI 9 except for dark mode which is on the EMUI 10

With SD 632 processor, it was a dead giveaway that we got very good in the connectvity department from calls, texts, mobile data, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and OTG.

With 4,000 mAh battery inside, power efficient processor and their choice for HD+ display, Honor 8C managed to survive in 21 hours and 23 minutes in our video battery rundown test. Using it as a main driver with heavy usage and around 6.5 hours of screen on time, we can usually use this phone in 1.75 days on a single charge.

On Antutu, the numbers are expected in over 101,000+ on Antutu which is a bit higher with the likes of Mediatek's Helio P22 and P23.

With a custom Android UI, Honor 8C gave 24.89 GB of available space out of it's 32 GB internal storage.

Honor 8C has dual 13 f/1.8 + 2 MP main cameras at the back. Even with a low aperture, we did not expect that much on this at first and we were as the main camera performed at it's best when we were in a bright environment but when it needs for some contrast or in a low-light place, 8C struggled. HDR and with depth camera samples were also not that good.

On it's launch, Honor 8C was at Php 7,990 which is a hard sell but as of writing, they slashed it at almost Php 3,000 which it brought down to Php 5,090. For the price, there are no complains as there are only a few number of phones at this price powered by Qualcomm. Connectivity, EMUI and battery life were the main strengths of the Honor 8C but have less expectation on the low-light camera shots. For us, Honor 8C is at 3.75 out of 5.
