Huawei Mediapad T5 Unboxing, Quick Review

We had a 2019 Mediapad from Huawei Philippines but within the Php 10,000-Php 19,999 price bracket but they also brought in something for the under 10k segment and that's what we took.

Here's the Huawei Mediapad T5 and it's official retail box looks like. For those who are asking about the price, it is at Php 9,990

Here is the front view of the device with 10.1 inch FHD+ display at 16:10 ratio plus 2 MP front cam. . The amount of bezels is just right as this is not a flagship Android tablet. This device is powered with that a bit old school Kirin 659 octa-core processor and still in EMUI 8.0 based on Android Oreo.

A view on the rest of the sides with nano sim/micro SD tray, volume rocker, power/unlock button, 3.5 mm audio jack and 5 MP rear camera. The tablet has that metal back with that matte with a bit of rubberish finish which added more grip for us for handling it even on one hand.

For this year 2019, Kirin 659 processor can now only handle some popular game titles with less graphical needs like Mobile Legends. For a device like this, we focused more on it as an entertainment device and it served it's purpose with 5,100 mAh battery. On our video battery rundown test, the device survived for 14 hours and 35 minutes which is already a very good achievement considering that we are having a bigger, FHD display in here. As we got more Facebook live video viewing like for NBA, PBA and MPBL, the tablet usually survived at around 10 hours on WiFi. Unlike it's bigger brother, the device only has 2 speakers but the sound quality was not mediocre. It was average for us in most of the music genres  that we explored on Youtube. Bojus that the audio thru the audio jack

Despite a new release for late 2019. I wonder on why Huawei still chose to have this tablet in EMUI-based Android Oreo especially that most Huawei Android products are now ranging to EMUI 9.0 to even EMUI 10. Good thing, the key elements to maximize the huge display like multi window and app drawer were easy to use and to activate.

As expected from the said custom Androd UI, as so we get the EMUI 8.0 look for it's camera UI. Surprisingly that the tablet can shoot up to Full HD but it was not that nice in it's output as well for shooting photos as both sensors come with f/2.8 aperture.

Huawei Mediapad T5 is quite a dependable Android tablet if for those in a budget and does not want to look at local counterparts if for light multiasking, browsing, light gaming and streaming. This is not for heavy gaming like PUBG and for those who might want to have an Android Pie tablet out of the box. The EMUI 8.0 inside was definitely the major downer for us. The asking price of Php 9,990 is not bad for an international brand. For us, it will be 3.75 out of 4 for the Huawei Mediapad T5
