Specs Rumble: Realme 5 Pro v Vivo V17 Pro v Samsung Galaxy A50s v Huawei Y9 Prime 2019

Many of our readers are asking for us for some specs comparison with some of the smartphones that released or about to be released locally so we started on that phone that really rocked the pricing last week and might send some shockwaves to it's competitors

Realme 5 Pro did a compelling local pricing with Php 11,990 for the 4/128 version but we are focused on the 8/128 variant at Php 13,990. Let's see on what it can do on these three competitors like Huawei Y9 Prime 2019, Vivo V17 Pro and Samsung Galaxy A50s on our prepared table below. Alll of them have Android 9 OS, USB Type C, dual SIM, micro SD slot, FM Radio and USB Type C port.

Rear cameras: Both on Realme and Vivo have that quad main cam set-up while Team Samsung and Huawei laid their triple main cam system. Three out of four phones here sport that 48 MP sensor which for now, Realme 5 Pro will be our choice coz of it's Sony IMX 586 sensor. Vivo' might have an edge as they have the one with telephoto lens in the group. We expect that there will be better pro mode controls on Huawei Y9 Prime 2019

Front camera/s: On capabilities, Vivo has the edge with that dual selfie cam set-up. Both of them and Huawei chose to do motorized selfie cam. Some might want it and some hate it mainly for the longevity. Not sure on how will be the difference of the 16 and 32 MP selfies with the same aperture on Realme and Samsung respectively but with our lil hands-on with their "pro", it is convincing for the asking price.

Processor/GPU: That Exynos is set to be proven so it will be a miss for most of us in terms of familiarity. Kirin 710 is a very good high midrange processor as proven also with the likes of Honor 8X and Huawei Y9 Prime as well in power efficiency. With those two Snapdragon SoCs (if the newest release will have a bearing for you), I will gonna pic the Snapdragon 712 together with lower nm (11 versus 12), 8.45% better CPU speed, 50% more memory bandwidth support and promised 33% faster download speeds. Snapdrgon 675 is already 8 months started with it's first phone which is Redmi Note 7 Pro introduced in February 2019. For us, it's a close match between the SD 712 on Realme and Kirin 710- of Huawei

Display: Another "it depends on you" thing. As offering the lowest SRPs, we are not surprised that Realme stick to an LCD solution as well as to Huawei but the notchless display is a plus. Realme's display is still very good from our previous experience. If you are into Super AMOLED displays with it's proven track record (regardless if you want that notch or not), I will go on Samsung especially with it's nearest brother Galaxy A50 did.

Battery: All of the phones have that identical battery capacity so we will gonna look at the charging speed which Y9 Prime 2019 will be the weakest in this group. On Samsung's 15 watt charging, it is not as fast as to Vivo but good thing, they have those 15 watt-capable powerbank. No info yet based on Vivo V17 Pro's India website if that dual engine charging will be as equal as to Qualcomm Quick Charge (based on what we experienced and it was told by one of their officials on Vivo V15 Pro). VOOC 3.0 with 20 watt charging support is the fastest in the group plus it has the same charger as to Realme 3 Pro so availability will be higher in case that you want to have a spare one.

Extras: With those phones have their own mix on Android, the multi window mode is crucial for us and if that continues (based on V15 Pro), Funtouch OS is the one that you should avoid for now as it has the least amount of app support in that said Android feature. One UI is a lot farther than that but it is a close tie between EMUI and ColorOS (which they just improved lately). Funtouch OS is also the one without an app drawer. Samsung and Vivo's advantages over the two brands will be the under display fingerprint reader but it all boils down to the implementation especially if you usually put that phone inside your pocket (some handsets already failed on this one). Having those physical fingerprint readers on both Realme and Huawei are still "in" in most people

Price: Among the four, Vivo V17 Pro is the only one so far that does not have an official pricing just yet (but we based it on it's India pricing of 29,990 rupees and their usual pricing pattern of Php 1,000-Php2,000 price versus rupee to PHP direct conversion and round it of to SRPs that end in either Php ??,990 or Php ??,999 happened starting from V7, V9, V11 and V15). Y9 Prime 2019 has the lowest price in the group but mainly that it only has 4 GB RAM but they have the biggest display size in this rumble. For Team Samsung, it is already a bit low compared to their usual pricing standards in the past since the release of Galaxy A50. For sure, it will have a very slim chance that Vivo PH will gonna sell the V17 Pro lower than to India's SRP as they're the only one at Php 20k+ segment which some people might gonna tell that it is over the limit unless if the importance of dual selfie cam is kicking in. Realme 5 Pro's pricing is on point with the right balance of RAM, has the same storage capacity as to the three competitors, almost has the same battery capacity yet the fastest in terms of charging output, the newest yet one of the most dependable processors and a very good set of quad main cameras.
