“Don’t be afraid to tinker the phone’s Pro Mode to give you greater control of your photos,” Pascual said, pointing out that exploring your phone camera’s ISO, shutter speed, and exposure levels allows you to experiment and discover your own style and develop your own aesthetic.
For perfect lighting, Pascual warned against overhead lighting and lighting from below your face as these are not flattering. “The best lighting is soft and subtle – the kind you can usually achieve with natural light through a window - this is why car selfies are popular,” he said.
Pascual also said that he usually enhances his shots with handy apps like VSCO, Lightroom, and Preview, and uses InShot Video Editor to level up his creativity on his IG Stories.
“Our phones today have made it a lot easier to take great photos - it’s really just a matter of discovering and wielding all these advanced features to suit your vision and personality,” he said.
