Huawei's Kirin 990 flagship processor had it's global introduction just last September 2019 in IFA 2019 but more things that cleared up from their recent by-invitation event together with select local tech media
To refresh you, Kirin 990 is the first SoC with 10.3 billion transistors, powered by 7 nm+ EUV, uplink of 1.25 Gbps and download up to 2.3 Gbps, NSA & SA SoC, coupled with 16-core Mali-G76 GPU and has Big Tiny Core Architecture NPU plus 44% less power consumption at light data loading, can do dual SIM VoLTE calls, supported by over 300+ AI operators
Their IFA 2019 launch was kinda fast paced so we had a better perspective of Kirin 990. Based on the clock speed, the Kirin 990 5G has better numbers than the Kirin 990 for 4G. As we are now leaping for 5G and that battery concerns, they took attention that the SoC can adjust to it's power requirement needs for light and heavy usage with their Light Data Loading feature. From their humble beginnings in 2000s, Kirin is really putting on the competitive edge against the others.
They also showed it's prowess in the gaming as the phone with the said SoC can handle controllers with that high-intense game with that dongle. As a teaser from it's AI capabilitiess together with it's front-facing camera, Huawei showed us that they can check your heart's BPM and average breathing per minute with just a look at the person's face. The results were kinda accurate based on the other wearables that we had and to other tech media that were also there.
Excited to see more of Kirin 990 now that the Huawei Mate 30 series will be landing in the Philippines very soon
