World’s First 5G NSA & SA Flagship SoC

HUAWEI Kirin 990 chip combines the processor and the 5G baseband into one, in doing so the ultimate performance and 5G connection are combined into one core, greatly increasing chip integration while reducing power consumption and heat generation.

HUAWEI Mate 30 provides the best 5G connection experience in the industry, supporting 2G/3G/4G/5G networks, NSA + SA networking modes, 5G+4G dual card dual standby, as well as FDD+TDD full frequency bands. Mate 30 Series can download a movie or a large game data package in just a few seconds and supports ultra-low latency cloud gaming experience and live streaming bringing the world closer than ever.


World’s First 16-Core Mali-G76 GPU

HUAWEI Kirin 990 Series features a three-level power efficiency architecture for CPU, comprising of two supersized cores (customized on Cortex-A76), two big cores (customized on Cortex-A76) and four micro cores (Cortex-A55), which provides a main frequency up to 2.86GHz. Based on the fine-tuning for CPU cores of different sizes, the performance and power efficiency are both enhanced. It integrates a 16-core Mali-G76 GPU cluster, making it the best Huawei smartphone chipset with the biggest GPU. It also features system-level Smart Cache that supports intelligent distribution for DDR data and Kirin Gaming+ 2.0 that delivers, a gaming experience with higher performance, higher power efficiency and better image quality.

At night or in low light environments, the quality of images shoot is greatly compromised by either temporal or spatial noise. The temporal noise is generated when two consecutive frames in playback change with time, and the spatial noise is inherent noise that originally exists in each frame. Unlike the common practices that focus only on the temporal NR, Kirin 990 is the first to implement dual-domain NR. It also adds NR to videos with hybrid frequencies by focusing on precise noise separation, improving the video NR capability by 20% and delivering sharper video images even shoot in low light scenes. The real-time video post-processing and rendering technology based on AI segmentation tunes images colors delicately, offering cinema-grade viewing experiences.

Moreover, based on the upgraded ISP, Kirin 990 (provides the brand-new cool Face AR. With captured facial images and NPU-based neural network algorithms, Face AR enables face modeling, real-time tracking, and facial expression capturing. It is also capable of analyzing health data such as the heart rate and respiratory rate, providing rich AR experiences and exploring more possibilities of AR applications.

HUAWEI Kirin 990 is the first flagship chip using Huawei's self-developed Da Vinci NPU architecture, an innovative computing architecture of dual big NPU cores and micro NPU cores.
