The only 5,000 mAh smartphone and their first online-only venture, finally we got on our verdict on the Samsung Galaxy M20
Coz it is on the M series and not on the A series, we saw the Samsung Experience based on Android Oreo which is decent for our overall navigation with Exynos 7904 processor and 3 GB RAM
Connectivity was decent too (not with the highs of the Huawei midrangers that we tested) in calls, texts, WiFi, Bluetooth and OTG. Unfortunately, it was a mixed bag for us when it comes to mobile data and GPS which is already rare these days plus to a brand like Samsung
It was our first time to see the Exynos 7904 SoC in the benchmark which scored at 108,056 on Antutu. Quite near to Snapdragon 632 and far from the likes of Kirin 710, Snapdragon 660 and Helio P70.
One of the intriguing facts on the Galaxy M20 is how it will the 5,000 mAh battery last. In our video battery rundown test, it lasted for only 17 hours and 45 minutes. It was a not a bit great battery life compared to the Huawei Y Max with bigger display and the same capacity that lasted at almost 22 hours. After the said test, we noticed that there's a bit of heat issue despite that the phone has a 14 nm processor inside. It reflected too when we used as a main driver. We expect that it will go at around 2 days but not as we can only have the phone between 1.25 to 1.5 days on heavy usage unlike on the Y Max which we can max it from 1.75 to 2 days usage.
The rear cameras of Galaxy M20 have the normal and wide angle options which were quite ok as long as it's daylight time. The wide angle photos, no warping issue. Our selfie, also decent. No surprise that Samsung only gave some camera basics on this budget M smartphone

Since it's local introduction, Samsung Galaxy M20 was still stuck at Php 10,990 which for a Samsung phone, the price was a-ok for the choice of processor, decent cameras, looks and battery but the main issues that they must fix in some on the mobile data, GPS, a bit of heating issues and could have been more out of 5,000 mAh battery capacity. Samsung Galaxy M20 for us is at 3.5 out 5.
