One of their first smartphones with triple main camera system,we dropped on what we saw on this Samsung Galaxy A50 review.
We went thru Touchwiz, Samsung Experience and now the Korean-based brand paraded the Samsung One UI which we agreed their cleanest, lightest take on their own custom Android UI. Less animations to the point that we just have to leave the developer options alone. A-ok too on multitasking with the help of their Exynos 9610 processor
The FHD+ Super AMOLED display was one of the best that you can find right now in the high midrange phone space. Not sure on the display or on the UI as this one is implementing under-display fingerprint sensor, this is also one of the worst that we experienced despite that we received three system updates throughout our review period. Just imagine, we only succesful for 3 to 4 for every 10 attempts. The lifesaver for us was the face unlock option.
Unlike on what we experienced on the Galaxy M20, it was a complete (good) full circle on the connectivity department in Galaxy A50 in all - calls, texts, OTG, mobile data, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS
With 4,000 mAh battery, Samsung Galaxy A50 survived in 17 hours and 50 minutes in our video battery rundown test which is very good. On heavy usage with an average of 7 hours of screen on time, we managed to have this phone in around 1.5 days.
It was our first time to encounter the said homegrown SoC so we run some Antutu and we got 144,789 which can be comparable with the likes of Snapdragon 660 and Mediatek Helio P60
Testing the triple main camera set-up, we checked more on the normal and wide angle camera samples which are at of that time, rare for high midrangers . The shots were pretty good in almost all lighting conditions and works as long as you are more of an auto mode shooter. As expected, we saw a very shallow pro mode in terms of options. Selfies are also quite good too. A lot better compared to the similar priced Galaxy J7 Pro from almost two years ago.

Previously at Php 17,990 and now at Php 15,990, Samsung Galaxy A50 was one of our fave high midrange phones that Samsung Philippines released so far with the light UI, dependable auto and wide angle shooter and big battery but the in-display optical fingerprint sensor was the Achilles Heel of the phone. A big disturbance everytime that you are about to open your phone which I hope Samsung PH already had the fix. Samsung Galaxy A50 for us is 4 out of 5
