You may know that we are covering and playing some e-sports lately but how about with some augmented reality (AR) but with some physical activity?
We were back days ago at the ABS-CBN compound to be at the the press launch of their first technosport venture named Hado Pilipinas which is a hit in Japan (Hado) hosted by Vince Velasco and Denice Dinsay
Before we went to the venue, we already knew that it will be an AR-based game but we got some details but first the game basics. Each team has 3 members and 2 teams will be competing in a court which looks like the small version of a volleyball court. Each player has an AR kit and a "command band" all powered by an iPhone device (the smaller iPhone models with 4 inch display and with that physical home button). The band has 6 attribute points which they can adjust for these four abilities including ball speed, ball strength and shield strength. On your AR kit, you can see two gauges for each on the ball and shield strength and when to recharge it for another offense or defense tactic
For televiewers, they will gonna see the AR version . What we saw are the 3 iPhones too serving as cameras.
As first trial, they invited teams based from NCAA schools which the champion will play at the upcoming Hado World Cup 2019 in Japan. We also had a chance to play it with fellow media personnels and good thing, we won on overtime
On the Q & A portion, we asked the officials from Hado Japan and ABS-CBN on why they chose to use iPhones for the game. Mainly that there is only one iPhone model, more stability and AR compatibility versus on Android platform and less expensive (if someone will broke it out) versus the other AR/VR headsets that we know.
Hado Pilipinas will have it's pilot episode starting this August 25 2019 and every Sunday, 11:30 am on S&A channel and can also be seen thru iWant app
