Huawei 5G CPE Pro Introduced

Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) showcased the HUAWEI 5G CPE Pro, the CPE (Customer Premise Equipment) that provides ultra-high speed broadband and intelligent Dual-Link features.

Huawei 5G CPE Pro is designed to achieve stronger, “zero-distance” connectivity between people and connected machines. Powered by Balong 5000, this router serves as a breakthrough in 5G deployment and accessibility for consumer devices worldwide.

In delivering a superior experience, the HUAWEI 5G CPE Pro utilizes its proprietary Balong 5000—the world’s first 5G multimode modem chipset. The power of the chipset enables the router to be the first to support commercial application of 4G and 5G dual-modes. It is the first to have the capacity to perform to industry benchmarks of peak 5G download speeds. The dual-mode elements allow for the device to default to 4G, should the 5G coverage not be strong enough.

“Huawei’s dedication to R&D has continued to push technology and connectivity forward since the beginning, and we’re able to make advancements and drive the 5G sector even in its early stages,” said Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group. “We started exploring and investing in 5G back in 2009, and because of this, we’re welcoming and prepared for this new era of 5G. We’re committed to developing smart ecosystems across all sectors.”

To ensure consumer demands are met in terms of network accessibility and connectivity, the HUAWEI 5G CPE Pro utilizes fiber-like up to 3.2Gbps speeds in commercial network to support ultra-high definition visual communications and immersive multimedia interactions. Additionally, the HUAWEI 5G CPE Pro’s utilizes dedicated video channel and game accelerator channel technology, meaning video performance—even for 8K media, or Computer Graphic VR game—is never compromised.

As Huawei continues to put reliability and connectivity at the forefront of its innovation, HUAWEI HiLink enables the 5G CPE Pro to connect to any network with just one click. HUAWEI HiLink is a smart home interconnection platform that offers interconnection and interworking solutions between all types of smart devices. Compatible with WPS, the need for a password to get Wi-Fi connection is eliminated, making this solution a user-friendly option. With HUAWEI HiLink, users can easily build a mesh network with the router and other HiLink-compatible Huawei APs to provide Wi-Fi coverage across a large area. In such a network, devices seamlessly switch between APs based on their proximity to each of them. Further, the router supports dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz. It intelligently identifies devices in close proximity and delivers high-speed connectivity over the 5GHz channel and takes advantage of the 2.4GHz band’s better range and penetration to transmit data to faraway devices.

During MWC 2019, Huawei also showcased two new Balong 5000-equipped products: HUAWEI 5G CPE Win and HUAWEI 5G CPE Mobile. Together, the new Huawei 5G products empower consumers with pervasive 5G connectivity.

With continuous investments in R&D for 5G development, Huawei’s global collaboration expands to multiple ecosystem partners, international trade associations, and beyond. Huawei has partnered with over 20 universities across the globe since 2009, and is actively working with organizations including METIS, ITU, China IMT-2020 and 3GPP. With 13 5G research centers worldwide, Huawei and its partners actively support a single standard for 5G to support a vision of shared innovation and the emergence of a mature 5G industry.
