While we are stiill not seeing even the shadow of their X3, this might be the nearest in terms of looks but with better dual pop-up selfie camera set-up
Meet the Cherry Mobile Flare S8 Plus which is the highest smartphone model from their recent launch. As you can see, no obstructions and notch on it's 6.26 inch FHD+ display
Compared to FS8 Pro, FS8 Plus got a bit shorter with it's triple main camera set-up at the back and the Cherry Mobile logo. So far at the launch venue, we only saw the black version.
The top portion has the dual pop-up selfie cameras are coming from, pin hole mic and USB Type C at the bottom, dual SIM and micro SD tray at the bottom and volume rocker and power/unlock button at the right section. Compared to it's FS8 brothers, this is the only one with curved back which means better ergonomics in one hand navigation but might be in trouble when you usually put your phone on a table
Same with the standard FS8, the Flare S8 Plus does not have an app drawer but with near stock Android Pie in here. Again, no Cherry OS in here.
With the highest variant in the line-up, we also made our expectations on it's one of it's f/1.6 main camera and f/1.8 on the main selfie shooter which has a wow factor for us so far. We wonder on how the almost Php 3,000 difference over the Flare X3 will deliver in terms of camera quality. We chose to disable the AI and beauty modes of the camera UI so that you can judge it at it's purest form. Good bokeh though when we had a selfie with one of known Cherry Mobile FB group moderators which had a guest appearance from our recent Facebook Live session in our FB page.
