We were down on our verdict on Huawei's biggest phablet that they brought in the local shore with it's respectable high midrange processor, is Huawei Y Max worth the buy for Php 16,990?
Nothing changed from the EMUI based on Android Oreo that we already faced from a number of Huawei smartphones that we had in the recent months. SD 660 plus 4 GB RAM were good enough to drive this 7.12 inch phone in multi-tasking as well as the display itself. The display itself was good enough
Connection? You will not gonna have a hard time in all departments - calls, texts, mobile data, WiFi, GPS, OTG and Bluetooth were very good on this one.
Audio via the speakers was one of the best that I heard so far on a high midrange device with the addition of Dolby Atmos as so with the 3.5 mm audio jack. It's situated on the balance tuning.
With it's Snapdragon 660 processor, huge 7.12 inch display, etc, Huawei Y Max scored at almost 130,000 on Antutu which is a-ok for us.
On battery, it was pretty fantastic at 21 hours and 15 minutes on our video battery rundown test. We said it coz we had another phone (for review soon) with the same 5,000 mAh battery capacity but with a smaller display.
We experienced this in a number of Huawei midrange smartphones and it repeated here on the Y Max: good auto shooter on normal lighting but not that good on complicated situations but as most of the midrangers that I reviewed here since the GR5 2017, the pro mode was very functional and live saver for me especially that with it's big display, I even only had this as an ultimate blogging machine. Colors were decent as the image processing time.
At Php 16,990, SD 660 processor, more durable back and huge 7.12 display and decent camera, Huawei Y Max is quite a steal compared to others with up to Php 2,000 more and bit smaller display. The con might be for other people with small hands that might be not that comfortable for that huge grip to take and not a good camera in all lighting condiitons. Huawei Y Max for us will be at 4 out f 5 rating on us.
