According to the global ranking of wearable manufacturers in Q1 2019 released by IDC, Huawei came third in shipment volume thanks to its sharp increase of 282.2% and retained first place in quarter-over-quarter growth.
In the wrist-worn device market, Huawei recorded an annual growth of 213%, topping other manufacturers in this regard. The strong performance of Huawei in the wearable market is attributed to the continuous improvement of its product competitiveness, in particular last year’s WATCH GT which features ultra-long battery life rarely achieved by other smart watches.
The watch can work for 2 weeks at maximum under typical scenario, i.e. the user wears the watch for an entire day (24 hours) with heart rate monitoring enabled, scientific sleep tracking enabled at night, exercises for 90 minutes a week (satellite positioning enabled), message notification enabled, and screen on for 200 times a day.
At its Paris launch for the P30 Series in March, Huawei showcased WATCH GT Active Edition and Elegant Edition to cater for younger and female consumers fond of brand-new colors, smaller bezel and further optimized features. Huawei remains optimistic about its performance in Q2.
