Months ago, it had some buzz at a smartphone-based group and it took me at the same timeline to confirm and we got it as so far waiting for this one of our fave mobile accessories especially if you need to watch TV on the go.
When MyPhone DTV Dongle had it's first exposure in this blog first since July 2017, it had an amazing reception even in year 2018 as even flagship phones can watch free DTV channels as long as it has OTG support and you have USB Type-C to micro USB dongle converter until the start of Android Pie-powered devices rolled it
Months ago, I saw some social media posts from various Huawei Mate 10 users who just upgraded to Android 9.0 Pie that they cannot use the said mobile accessory. Their suspicion at at that time was the new Android operating system
In between our reviews, we touched some smartphones with Android Pie: the likes of Huawei Y6 2019 (EMUI), Samsung Galaxy S10+ (One UI), Nokia 6.1 on Android Pie (stock) and the recently released version 117 of Vivo V15 Pro (Funtouch, an exclusive at version 113, the dongle still worked on us)
From what you saw at the list above, looks like it is not on the custom or stock versions but it probably leads to the Android 9.0. Recently, someone from MyPhone finally brought us the clarification on our discovery
The official said that their developers are currently updating the app for Android Pie. The app is currently not available in Google Play in compliance with Google's for an update on Android 9.0 . The official was right as you can see from this screenshot below that MyPhone Digital TV app is not available in search
In my current situation, I just upgraded to Android Oreo to another Android Pie smartphone (another phone model not mentioned at the list below as I will have to verify it later) and if digital TV on the go is your priority, this might be a factor for now to stay at Android Oreo (unless you have some enough budget for mobile data for free TV programs that are showing in app-exclusives or thru legit social media platforms).
I hope that the guys from MyPhone will be able to solve this newly-discovered issue that revolves on Android 9.0 and their DTV dongle. Of course once that it will be completely fixed, those who already have the said device will be happy and their potential customers will come as it will be another revenue stream for the said local tech company. Hoping for the best, MyPhone
