While the global livestream, Huawei Philippines also put in a local livestream party to select local tech media and a treat to check out their one out of two 2019 flagship phones.
Meet the Huawei P30 Pro which on site, we had a hands-on of the second to the highest variant at 8 GB RAM and 256 GB ROM. More on the specs are here on this link
Their choice of FHD+ AMOLED display was pretty neat for us as well as the slim top and bottom bezels. The notch is still there, it was a bit big for me but you must have the 32 MP selfie camera in mind
The quad main camera set-up with it's shiny back (yes, I had to wipe it off first before I shoot this with it's fingerprint smudges). I also took the chance for a closer look of their periscope camera solution which brings in the 5x hybrid zoom and up to 50x digital zoom
The top part has IR blaster and noise cancelling mic while at the bottom, pin hole mic, USB Type C with 40 watt Huawei Supercharge support,, hybrid dual SIM tray and speaker
The phablet has EMUI 9.1 based on Android 9 Pie. Still, they chose not to include the LTE toggle button. It never mentioned at the launch but great to know that they included Dolby Atmos in here. You can also have a look on the 8 GB RAM in action
On the camera UI, it was almost the same as we saw on the Mate 20 but with key additions including the (up to) 50x digital zoom which I took some focus on the little time that I had. Another discovery, you can use the said digital zoom limit even when the AI mode is on. So far, we had very good output with the label of the wine as my subject as long as you really have that steady hands and grip. We also added a comparison of the night mode too set for 2 seconds and what to expect on their 32 MP selfie cam.

So far, we never have the official local launch as well as the pricing of Huawei P30 Pro in the Philippines. I wonder if the 8 GB RAM/256 GB ROM that I played will be the official version locally
