Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 6 GB Review

Not just the 4 GB but Asus Philippines allowed us to check the 6 GB RAM of one of their newest "battery king' smartphones. From it's release late last year, there were reports of various bugs which was still a blessing for this website avoiding the possible headache/s using it. After a few months with that hope of a better experience with it's 5th OTA update - here's our verdict on Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2  6 GB

By the way, here is the latest update that we got as of 12/27/2018

From the UI, it was the same choice that we experienced on the Max Pro M1 but definitely a lot snappier with stock Android Oreo and a lot better Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor (compared to SD 636 on Max Pro M10

On connectivity, it was always a plus for us to have true dual SIM on our main driver. It's been a while since we seen a smartphone that you can do "4G only' which is another advantage of Max Pro M2. With a Qualcomm chip inside, it was almost a giveaway for us that we will be enjoying very good on mobile data, WiFi, calls and texts. Also in Bluetooth and OTG too

On benchmarks, we heard the buzz about it and it was true that the brand chose to put in the underclocked version of the said processor (maybe to keep the price on it's right spot) at over 130,000. Not bad for us based on what we experienced. It has the 7 out of 9 sensors including the gyro sensor

On our video battery rundown test,  it almost endured the entire day as it registered at 23 hours and 5 minutes. With it's 5,000 mAh battery inside, it was an easy 1.5 day smartphone for us in heavy usage especially on mobile data, GPS and camera shooting

On the camera UI, it was still the bad thing that we hate on the Max Pro M1 with very limited options to tweak from auto, not full-blown pro mode, HDR, sports and night. Part of the latest udpate was the AI feature on the main camera which on auto mode, the camera will automatically adjust to give the best possible picture depending on the subject. For us, this feature is a double-edged sword as most of the time it gives a very good output and at the same time, there's no option to turn it off except if you will gonna go on pro mode. With out without the AI, the main shooter's a lot better than on what we seen on the Max Pro M1 in terms of color accuracy and image processing speed.

On extras, as expected that it produced very good audio on 3.5 audio jack. One sad thing for us is the bad FM radio reception even when we are outside while walking for some reason despite in the number of earphones that we had.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 is situated at Php 14,995 which is good for price if you looking for good gaming phone with a already-proven processor, huge battery, stock Android, decent auto camera shooter, the curved body and the limited camera modes will be an excuse for you. Some things that might annoy you are the poor FM radio reception and no option to turn off the AI option. For us, it's 4 out of 5 for the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 6 GB
