ASUS ROG's Refreshed Line with RTX-powered Strix II Gaming Laptops Revealed

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) announces the arrival of the refreshed ROG Strix Gaming laptops to be powered by next-generation NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics, featuring real-time ray-tracing technology for more realistic gaming experiences and supreme performance.

Following ROG’s announcement of its full line-up of RTX-powered gaming products during CES 2019 in Las Vegas, ASUS ROG Philippines has revealed the pricing and availability of the first wave of gaming laptops to hit the market. Starting January 29, end-users who want to experience the next level of gaming technologies can get their hands on the ROG Strix SCAR and Hero GL504 and the ROG Strix SCAR GL704 powered by up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070.

“As the world’s number one gaming brand, we are proud to also be the first to enable end-users to experience the latest in gaming with the arrival of RTX-powered ROG laptops locally,” said George Su, ASUS Country Manager for Systems Business Group. “We believe that ROG is the ideal platform for the newest RTX GPUs, matching its innovative high performance with ROG’s class-leading features and technologies that truly make our gamers’ experiences overwhelming.”

ROG Strix SCAR
The ROG Strix SCAR II comes in 15.6” and 17.3” flavors available with the same 144Hz refresh rate and 3ms response time. Both versions are draped in a shooter-inspired motif that uses splashes of camouflage to create a unique aesthetic fit for the battlefield. Highlighted WASD keys further reinforce the SCAR’s roots and ensure that you can easily find the home row for FPS gaming.

Both versions of the ROG Strix SCAR come with options of either an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 with 6GB of GDDR6 VRAM, or an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 with 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM. All variants are equipped with an Intel Core i7-8750H processor, 16GB DDR4 2666MHz RAM, and 256GB NVMe PCIe SSD + 1TB SSHD for storage.

ROG Strix Hero

The ROG Strix Hero is optimized for MOBAs and ideal for gamers who want subtler styling. Its contrasting textures and cyber-text patterns are more restrained than the aggressive aesthetic of the SCAR II, making the Hero II more approachable for wider audiences.
Powered by the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 graphics, the ROG Strix Hero will enable higher frame rates in the latest MOBA Games, and guarantee that it will run whatever next-gen game you throw at it. Like with the SCAR, NVIDIA Optimus ensures that battery life and power will be conserved whenever the discrete GPU isn’t being used.
The ROG Strix Hero will be available at a later date.

ROG Zephyrus S (17in) GX701 - Cutting Edge Over the Horizon

Another compelling announcement made by ASUS ROG during CES 2019 comes in the form of the world’s slimmest 17” gaming laptop powered by NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q. The ROG Zephyrus S GX701 is the first-ever Zephyrus series model that carries a 17-in display.

Taking its cues from the original Zephyrus S GX531, the ROG Zephyrus S GX701 sports the same super-narrow bezel 144Hz/3ms Full HD screen, but adds NVIDIA G-SYNC™ and Optimus™ technology into the mix, as well as delivering a PANTONE®-validated panel. Cooling its ultra-powerful RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU is the same patented Active Aerodynamic System (AAS) and dual 12-volt fans and a robust thermal management system.

The ROG Zephyrus S GX701 will come with up to 24GB DDR4 2666MHz RAM and up to 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD storage. Pricing and availability will be announced at a later date.

ROG Unleashed program

Acknowledging the commitment of the members of the Republic in bannering their gaming setups online, ASUS ROG also launches the ROG Unleashed program to give back to its end-users. All ROG notebooks will come bundled with an ROG Eye Metallic Sculpture—definitely a welcome addition to a hardcore gamer’s corner.

The ROG Strix SCAR GL504 and GL704 laptops will be on shelf on January 29, 2019 at ROG Districts and authorized retailers nationwide, including the ASUS ROG Strongholds in Lazada and Shopee.
