Known global firm IDC recently revealed the leading smartphone brands in the Philippines for the first half of 2018 on their official website
Before we reveal it, some interesting events happened as according to them, the average spending of Filipinos went up from $127 to $192 which means Pinoys are ready to invest to phones with higher specs but still within their reach. We can literally tell that it is true simply by our almost everyday - most of the passengers or strangers are usually having a midrange smartphone. Device shipped also went up from 7.8 million compared to first half of 2017
These are the top five:
5. Huawei - The numbers were quite consistent compared to the previous report by Counterpoint. This Chinese smartphone brand had their fruits of labor from their better exposure in stores, in-store display and using endorsers
4. OPPO - They slipped a bit in the standing yet they were still aggressive. Currently, they have the A71, F7 and F7 Youth in the line-up
3. Vivo - Their effort in aggressive marketing just like in their previous years equals their gain to the top five. Notable mentions was their releases of V9, Y71, Y85 and X21 which became FIFA's official smartphone
2. Samsung - Consistent in the previous quarters that their J and A smartphone series made them to be present in the second spot. Of course, ther S and Note smartphones also worth it.
1. Cherry Mobile - still leads in terms of unit share but they also revealed that the only local smartphone brand in the top 5 had a slight dip in the numbers as we all know it, global brands are stronger right now in terms of presence
