Like in our usual routine in a smartphone launch event, the day/night will not be complete for us without at least a teaser, one of Huawei's first smartphones with Kirin 980 processor.
Meet the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Yup, you might already saw a number of notched phones so at first, it looks like a norm but as you can have a chance to see it in person, the Quad HD+ AMOLED display can tell that this is indeed a high-end phone to expect unlike in the previous Mate 10 Pro which they sticked it in FHD+
We got the black version of this device at the back. We already forgotten if to compare to Mate 10 Pro (as we only had a chance to review to Mate 10 with 16:9 display) . Looks sleek to us and their newest triple main cam implementation - it has a lil camera bump but for sure, the provided case will solve about it
Here are the rest of the sides. The right hand side has volume rocker and power/unlock button. The nano SD card/sim card tray as well as the speaker and USB Type C port with 40 watt Huawei Super Charge are at the bottom. As the buzz about it, it is true that you can easily compare it in recent edge-to-edge displays from previous high-end phones from a Korean brand
Like what we told you on our previous article, Huawei Mobile PH will gonna bring the 6 GB RAM/128 GB ROM version of Mate 20 Pro with around 113 GB left on storage
The camera app UI appearance almost remains the same as to the P20 series but with new additions including 4 new modes on portrait mode. If you are coming even from a P10, you will not gonna have that much learning curve on this. The launch event happened at around 6 pm so the night shots were the best possible scenario that we can dig at least for an idea on how good the cameras are. So far I am impressed. I do not like though, the much aggressive beautification on the portrait mode even we already set it to 0.
Here are some of the camera samples that we brought along despite on the limited time that we had at the launch grounds in Raffles Makati
Huawei Mate 20 Pro normal, HDR and night mode rear camera samples
Huawei Mate 20 Pro normal, stained glass selfie camera samples
Some things as it has the latest EMUI 9.0 based on Android 9.0 Pie, not that much changes compared to EMUI 8.2. Sad to know that they still did not include the 4G toggle button in here
Huawei Mate 20 Pro is currently on pre-order until November 2, 2018 and set for commericial release the following day for Php 49,990.
