More than 10 hours to go to it's formal introduction in the country, we were able to check out ASUS' first gaming-centric smartphone which they revealed way back last June in Computex 2018
We were happy to check out the ASUS ROG Phone on showcase on their huge space in ESGS 2018 and we had some time to play with the highest model possible, the one with 8 GB RAM and 512 GB internal storage. Well, here is the front view of the device which already looks handsome to us
What's more at the back view with such cuts and unique design suit for that typical ROG fashion if you are familiar in their line of laptops and gaming peripherals. As expected, there are some parts that are prone to fingerprint smudges.
We want to give that extra attention to that attachment for landscape view of gaming and switches for 2 3.5 mm audio jacks
Here are the sides of the phone with volume rocker and power/unlock button at the right portion of the device but we notice that they chose to have that rounded yet a bit rough-textured sides - might be for easy gripping of it.
A new breed of smartphone for ASUS - this is not a Zenfone and it still sticks on that we can expect on the looks of an ROG device and it also translated to their custom Android version in here. Lots of options that you can customize even there's a fan toggle too. The app drawer is like your typical Android Oreo gesture by swiping up. I love that the phone still has various options for camera and a full-pledged pro mode too. There are rumors that the cameras of this device are the same as to what we can see on the 2018 Asus Zenfone 5 which based on what the camera samples that we got, it was pretty decent in that tricky light environment
Here are the camera samples:
