On Track Towards Digital Transformation - Acer PH

In the fourth industrial revolution where technological breakthroughs are changing societies, countries are widening and expanding their technological capabilities to keep up with the global trend.

Despite the lack of infrastructure and smarter policies to adapt to the digital age, the Philippines continues to progress as its customers adapt to fast-changing technology. The growth in the consumer segment of a top ICT company in the country, Acer, proves that Filipino’s demand for computing devices puts the country on the right track towards digital transformation.

Acer Philippines’ Managing Director, Manuel Wong said, “We began our operations in the country 15 years ago and throughout the years. We have seen how Filipinos have adapted to different technologies. Access to tools makes Filipino consumers keen on integrating technology in their daily lives. We’ve seen this in the increasing number of personal computers and laptops they use in their homes and at work.”

In a highly competitive and already congested market, Acer recorded more than 20% market share in the personal computer (PC) segment for the first half of this year. Aside from leading the PC line, in its 12-year streak since 2005, Acer also continues to dominate the Notebook segment, with the company’s market share falling between 29% to 35%. This places the company as the top brand for notebooks as announced by the International Data Company (IDC). This also marks the tech giant’s stabilizing business operations and profitability in the Philippine market.

These indicators of consumers adapting to tech trends and innovation mark the clear advantage of businesses that are already undergoing their own digital transformation. However, this competitive advantage is present mostly in large corporations with access to vast resources for technological integration.

In the Philippines, 99% of registered businesses are micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that do not prioritize digital adaptation in their business operations. IT companies like Acer encourage these economic drivers to discover the opportunities in integrating powerful tools in their business operations.

“Integrating technology does not always have to seem like a major investment, especially for small players like MSMEs. They can start with establishing their digital presence because this can help widen their customer base. Aside from this, a business’ online presence can help establish networks and partnerships. To do so, they need to equip their businesses with reliable hardware that can keep up with the digitalization.”

Acer continues to provide the market with quality products and after-sales services. From its entry-level to high-end products, Acer has a reputation for producing devices that have high-definition audio and visual components, stellar processing power, and generous connection ports all held in refined exteriors. With the range not limited to PCs, Acer also offers laptops, tablets, monitors, projectors, and cloud solutions for both home and business use.

The country is still far from reaching the technological capabilities of neighboring countries, but with access to the right and reliable tools, Philippine businesses will soon follow the consumer trend of integrating technology in everyday lives.
