It was one of the three Android Oreo Go devices of Cherry Mobile devices under the Flare series which are obviously catering to the entry-level market crowd but with some additions like the fingerprint sensor. Is the Cherry Mobile Flare P3 hits the spot for it's asking price
Even at this price, the star of Cherry Mobile Flare P3 is it's pure Android Oreo Go experience (to the point that you cannot see the Cherry Mobile e-warranty app anymore) and you will gonna dig more at the storage section, you will gonna get a hefty 5.7 GB out of 8 GB internal storage for your additional apps. The lightness of the app helped with the SoC that they chose which is a mediocre Mediatek MT6580 quad-core processor inside. Yup, smooth even as you threw in a good number of light apps (which it has some essential Go apps like Maps, Gmail and Youtube) .
The 5.5 inch 18:9 HD+ display was pleasant to my eyes with a-ok color accuracy and angle plus very good default brightness level. Nothing to complain about this device
As you may already have a hint on it's SoC, the phone does not have LTE support so stickin' in to WiFi connection which is pretty good as well in calls, texts, Bluetooth and GPS in the connectivity department
The fingerprint is not that fast and accurate that to the point that you have to put in the registered fingertip/s in whole for you to have a successful first attempt
In the benchmarks, I already anticipated with the Antutu numbers and limited number of sensors that they put in inside the device
On battery, the processor that they brought in with 28 nm process and 2,400 mAh battery, the phone survived only at 7 hours and 50 minutes which is pretty low in today's standards. Used it as a daily driver in heavy usage in 15% brightness and around 5 hours of screen on time and about the middle of the night, I just need to unleash my powerbank to finish the entire day.
Both cameras on the Flare P3 have f/2.8 aperture so expect that it will act poorly on low-light and mixed lighting situations. Of course, this phone will work nicely on good lighting environments. The camera UI is quite old school that we seen from the likes of Infinix Pure but no complains as long as the cam produced good enough pics for the price
Cherry Mobile Flare P3 is currently priced at Php 3,799 which is pretty good as you cannot find a phone like this in the entry level segment with 5.5 inch HD+ 18:9 display, fingerprint sensor and that untouched Android OS. Not having LTE can be a forgiveable thing as long as you have WiFi access all the time but the battery will be an issue for those who usually spend a minimum of 5 hours screen on time. I will gonna give Cherry Mobile Flare P3 at 3.75 out of 5
