Seven Out of 10 Pinoys Now Into Cashless Payments - Visa

Seventy percent or mathematically seven out of 10 Filipinos are now going cashless with their combined numbers of prepaid and debit-based credit cards. In a discussion led by Visa Country Manager for the Philippines and Guam Stuart Tomlinson, 58% because of convenience and 47% for safety


All things also have some obstacles and this ongoing shift also make some people doubt on it likely because of the lack of infastructure and sometimes, their usual stores or utility companies that they go do not have these payment options just yet



More on the numbers, 65% are checking their balances online at least once a week thru online means. Compared from year 2016 to 2017, soaring numbers recorded as Filipinos shop more online with an increase to 71% . To break it down even more, 59% comes for bills, fashion (43%) travel (40%) and beauty products



When we asked Mr. Tomlinson on what Visa encourages between physical and app-based prepaid account, it will depend on the situation. Using an app-based solution is essential especially if you are just about to shop online on this particulat site or app for the first time and it is less risky to use rather than to use a possible postpaid physical card. In stores, there will be some instances that they only accept payments by a physical prepaid credit card
