PLDT Host Regional Telco Heads In First FTTH APAC Conference in PH

Telco and digital services leader PLDT is all set to host the Philippines’ first FTTH APAC Conference which will take place on May 8 to 10, 2018 at the Shangri La at the Fort.

Now on its 13th year, the FTTH Council Asia-Pacific brings the annual convention to the Philippines for the first time. With the theme “Connecting the business, policy and technology of fiber to everywhere,” the three-day event will focus on deploying deep fiber to the network edge. The sessions and panels will address the socioeconomic benefits of deep fiber and provide a platform for sharing technologies and strategies that have produced real success.

“We are very excited to bring this year’s conference to the Philippines,” said FTTH Council Asia-Pacific President Wataru Katsurashima. “Recent announcements have made the Philippines one of Asia-Pacific’s most exciting telecom markets. This is the perfect time to visit the country and gain a first-hand understanding of the partnership, investment and innovation opportunities.”

PLDT and Smart SVP and Head of Consumer Business Market Development Oscar A. Reyes, Jr. will be addressing the Philippines Telecommunications Leadership Panel where policy makers and network operations will discuss how deep fiber network can transform the information and communication services landscape in the country.

“The Asia Pacific market, especially the Philippines, will play a crucial role in the region’s dynamic telecoms sector and this is an exciting time for us as we continue to innovate and evolve,” Reyes noted. “PLDT has been at the forefront of the FTTH rollout nationwide – enhancing the digital lifestyles of Filipino families and driving the growth of local enterprises that fuel the country’s economic performance.”

With an expected attendance of over 600 senior executives from the region’s top operators, solutions providers and vendors, the event is a groundbreaking gathering of Asia Pacific’s movers and shakers in the competitive market.

The FTTH Council Asia-Pacific was established in 2005 with a mission to “accelerate the adoption of optical fiber access” by all consumers and organizations. Like its counterparts in the US and Europe, the non-profit organization aims to educate the public and the industry on the benefits and opportunities of FTTH solutions. The FTTH APAC Conference is well established as the most important meeting for all companies active in fiber network deployment and operation in the Asia-Pacific telecoms market.
